PRESS PICKS: College football greets the Labor Day weekend

Finally.
College football is here (no offense to Central Arkansas and Austin Peay). And with it comes a long weekend for Labor Day.
It was great to have action at Cramton Bowl last Saturday night and this week isn’t exactly breath taking in terms of the schedule. But there is a schedule and that’s something to be happy about.
The schedule is full of non-Power 5 games but expect great action. Middle Tennessee will play at Army while Memphis faces Arkansas State.
The highlight of the first weekend comes on Labor Day with the Naval Academy playing host to Brigham Young.
In high school action, the AHSAA reaches regional play and the first week has interesting games including Thursday’s Lee-Eufaula game at Cramton Bowl. Eufaula is coming off an upset of Central-Phenix City.
Prattville visits Auburn in an early key game for Class 7A Region 2. The Lions have revenge on their minds after losing to the Tigers last year.
Holtville and Elmore County open region play in Class 5A for the first time in either school’s history.
In the standings, Graham Dunn took a lead over Doug Amos while Michael Butler and Tim Gayle stand in third.
