The question has to be asked….
Is there anything that will save the job of Bryan Harsin?
The answer is easy - yes, if he and the Auburn Tigers start winning.
That’s a big “if.”
But the naysayers are out in full force this week after a sub-par performance against Penn State.
Yep, it was bad. It was ugly and it was bad timing when everyone was thinking this would be a great way for Harsin to get in the good graces of his doubters.
Unfortunately, the outcome only made it worse.
“Fanboy” sites are already looking for his replacement. Some are even putting Harsin at another school next year.
Too early?
Not in today’s “move ‘em in, move ‘em out” society. Yesterday’s news is not lining the bird cage, it’s suffering from the “delete” button.
The speculation can go on and on but in Harsin’s case, a win over Missouri is a must. But is it guaranteed? Considering where the Auburn program is at this point, it’s hard to put this one in the “cod-lock” category.
Harsin is not a wanted man, at least by the standards set by the big spenders at Auburn. He needs some support and he won’t get it until he does something special. That’s really not possible until the Tigers line up against Georgia on Oct. 8.
Until then, he’s got to hold on and win what’s in front of him, which is easier said than done.
