More than 1,100 runners participated Saturday in the first-ever Montgomery Half-Marathon.
Mayor Todd Strange estimated that the event generated more than $1 million in economic impact.

The Auburn University at Montgomery women’s basketball team hosted the 10th Annual Senator Stampede last Saturday (Sept. 26), and after all of the entries were tallied, 225 runners participated in the event. That number represents the highest number of participants in the 10-year history of the Stampede.

The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced a change to its 2009 schedule. Tony Barnhart, who was scheduled for the Sept. 8 meeting, has canceled his appearance. Barnhart recently signed a contract with CBS Sports that calls for him to host a Tuesday night cable sports show. The Tony Barnhart Show will make its debut on Sept. 8.
