SLE Rodeo notes: Seiler looking for 'big time'; walk-up helps attendance figures

Staff Report

Andy Seiler spent the better part of the previous week calling the Southeastern Livestock Rodeo at Garrett Coliseum with a few other things on his mind.

One was the fact that he was not too far away from his current home of Troy where he is a senior at the university. Second, he was thinking about being another step closer to calling the big show or Las Vegas one day.

Smith rides in to SLE Rodeo with top-notch stock

By Graham Dunn
RRS Editor

Stace Smith has been in the business of rodeos for three decades. He has seen cowboys come and go. Lately, he is seeing a different entry in the field of bull and bronc riding.

“Yeah, it has changed,” Smith said. “I don’t mean this to be ugly but this new crop of riders is a different breed. They are great athletes but they are also skateboarders and snowboarders. They come from another world than the guys who have won in the past.”

Such is the life of the new cowboy. Instead of growing up on the prairie, the latest group of riders are learning balance on ice and wheels.

SLE Rodeo hopes to rope in fans during strapped economy

Welcome to River Region Sports

From the editorial staff of RRS

Go deep.

The term evokes several images.

A post route worked to perfection between quarterback and receiver comes to mind. So does a long screaming homer off the bat of Manny, Chipper or A-Rod. Even the thought of finding a trophy large-mouth bass in cavernous waters covers the slogan.

It all takes place on the field of play. That’s where River Region Sports intends to be… every day.
