Jeff Davis High School may have taken the field at Cramton Bowl with a different look on Thursday.
But the Volunteers mimicked the same team that lost 19 of 20 games in the past two seasons, only in a different uniform.
Dothan was convincing in its 27-6 victory over JD, which wore a brand new style of uniforms (much like the look of the Oregon Ducks) for the first time since the school fielded a football team in 1968.

The message given to the Jeff Davis Volunteers by head coach Travis Pearson this week is simple.
“Let’s get a win!”
Undemanding to some but for a team coming off a 1-9 season and one that struggled to score points, it’s the right place to start.

Four touchdowns would have been enough for the Wetumpka Indians to beat the Jeff Davis Volunteers on Thursday.
That’s how many quarterback Jamal Golden scored in the game.
But the outcome was in doubt until his scored the final one in the last minutes of the fourth quarter.
Wetumpka’s 36-20 victory at Cramton Bowl may look like an easy victory, but Golden and the Indians know otherwise.

When you have a solid athletic program, it usually produces solid teachers, not only those who are successful on the court or field of play, but also successful in teaching their players how to become teachers and coaches once their playing days are over. No where is that a better example than at Auburn University at Montgomery.

The Sidney Lanier Lady Poets earned a typical win over arch-rival Jeff Davis Saturday in the Class 6A, Area 6 on Saturday. That's typical as in a rough-and-tough affair in which 16 turnovers were forced by the Lanier defense in the second half.
The 60-44 victory at the JD gym sends Lanier home for the sub-regional on Thursday against Auburn. JD will go on the road to face Stanhope Elmore.

"We've never had anything like this before. . . and we may add a couple more later this week," said Stanhope Elmore head coach Jeff Foshee. "It is certainly the largest class we've ever had. It's a good group with a lot of talent."
