MOBILE – Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) defeated Fresno Pacific (Calif.), 5-2, in the 59th Annual NAIA Men’s Tennis National Championship in Mobile, Ala. Auburn Montgomery fell to the Sunbirds a year ago in the title match. The Senators have now won nine national championships overall and four out of the last five.

MOBILE—The Auburn Montgomery Senators men’s tennis team will make another appearance in the NAIA National Tennis Championship finals after defeating Azusa Pacific (27-2) 5-2 in semifinal action. The Auburn Montgomery women’s tennis team defeated Concordia University (Calif.) 5-0 in the semifinal round of the Women’s NAIA Tennis National Championship.

MOBILE – The semifinals have a familiar look to them at the 2010 NAIA Men’s Tennis National Championship at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala. Three of the four semifinalists were in this same position just a year ago. Fresno Pacific (Calif.), Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) and Embry-Riddle (Fla.) all made the semifinals in 2009. The only newcomer to the group this year is Azusa Pacific (Calif.).

NORCROSS, Ga. – The Huntingdon men’s tennis team’s quest for a third straight Great South Athletic Conference Tournament title fell short on Sunday, when the Hawks fell to Maryville College 5-1 in the finals of the 2010 Tournament... For the second straight year, Agnes Scott defeated the Lady Hawks fell 5-4 in a hard-fought battle for the conference title.

The Auburn Montgomery men’s tennis team was able to fight through the weather and a tough Martin Methodist College team and pull out a 5-0 win for the 2010 NAIA Unaffiliated and Independent Conference Tournament. With the win the Senators earned the automatic berth into the 2010 NAIA National Tournament.

AUBURN – No. 1 singles player Raony Carvalho won the deciding match over Andrei Daescu of Oklahoma to give Texas Tech the overall title in the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic on Sunday.
The win was the first for the Red Raiders over a Top 20 team.

The 16th-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders defeated Notre Dame on Saturday to advance to the championship of the Blue-Gray National Tennis Classic, where they will face another Big 12 team, 17th-ranked Oklahoma.
Because of a chance of rain, tournament officials have moved the championship match to the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn at 10 a.m.

Auburn University at Montgomery will host the 2010 AUM Spring Tennis Invitational Friday and Saturday. The matches will begin at 9 a.m. at both the Lagoon Park Tennis Complex and at the AUM Tennis Complex. The second round of matches will begin at 2 p.m.
Because of bad weather, the Huntingdon Lady Hawks will participate in the tournament at Lagoon Park.

MOBILE—The doubles tandem of Alberto Gonzalez and Michael Johnson have won the ITA Super Bowl and will now move on to the NCAA Indoor National Championships hosted by Yale University on Nov. 3. The duo will face doubles teams from the best teams of NCAA Division I teams at the indoor championships.

Huntingdon senior Glenn Rudolph was named the Great South Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year and newcomer Jonathan Hibbert earned Freshman of the Year honors to highlight six members of the men’s tennis team recognized by the conference on its postseason awards list.
Several members of the Huntingdon women’s tennis team were recognized at the Great South Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament this weekend for earning All-Conference, All-Freshman and All-Academic honors, led by newcomer Madison Jackson being named the Conference Freshman of the Year.

The tennis programs at Auburn University at Montgomery have won 17 national championships between them. The women’s program has won five consecutive championships and the men’s team has won the past three championships.
Those championships are not the only thing the tennis teams have been successful in as both programs have become involved in community projects. This year the teams have participated in events such as reading days at area elementary schools and free tennis clinics.

Despite a nearly two-week layoff, the Huntingdon women’s tennis team showed no signs of rust as it defeated Spelman 7-2 in Great South Athletic Conference tennis action on Wednesday.
With the win, the Lady Hawks improved to 7-4 on the season and 4-0 in league play. The victory also marked the 20th consecutive victory over GSAC opponents, dating back to April 18, 2006.

AUM's men’s tennis team defeated Drury University 7-2 at the AUM Tennis Complex on Monday. Drury is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference and came to AUM as the 8th ranked team in the nation in NCAA Division II.

Tennessee head tennis coach Sam Winterbotham is not much for sport coats. In fact, he doesn’t own many.
He does have one more to add to his collection today.
The Volunteers swept through the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic with a 4-2 victory over Alabama in Sunday’s final at Lagoon Park. It was Tennessee’s first tournament championship in Montgomery since 1989.

JACKSON, Miss. - The Huntingdon men's tennis team started the 2009 season right where it left off 2008, cruising to a season-opening 9-0 victory over Tougaloo College on Friday
The win marked the third consecutive season that the Hawks have won their season opener and, in the process, extended their overall win streak to 13 matches.
In the victory, Huntingdon won both a singles and doubles match via default, as Tougaloo played with only five players.

JACKSON, Miss. - The Huntingdon women's tennis team opened its 2009 campaign with an 8-1 victory over NAIA foe Tougaloo College on Friday afternoon. The Lady Hawks earned a victory in their season opener for the second time in as many years and in five of the past six seasons.
Huntingdon won five singles matches and all three doubles matches.
Earning singles victories for the Lady Hawks were freshmen Madison Jackson, Christian Vick, Kayla Heetland, Virginia Straus and Meredith Brogden, all of whom earned their first collegiate victories.
