Faulkner hosted Brewton-Parker in the opening round of the annual Faulkner Invitational on Friday. The game marked the second conference match between the Southern States Athletic Conference rivals this season. The Lady Barons knocked off the Eagles previously and Faulkner was looking to settle the score. The Eagles grabbed the opening point in set one and never looked back. Faulkner never trailed in the 25-18, 25-23, 25-19 victory.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday, falling to Covenant, 3-0, and UVA-Wise, 3-2.
The Huntingdon dropped a pair of one-goal decision this weekend, falling to Millsaps 2-1 on Saturday and Sewanee 1-0 on Sunday at the Huntingdon Soccer Field.

When Julie Sinclair arrived at Montgomery Academy in 1979, being a volleyball coach was the furthest thing from her mind.
She just wanted a job and had an opportunity to finish her master’s degree.
Now, 31 years later, she is considered one of the greatest volleyball coaches in state history.

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Trojans got 2009 started out on the right foot with a 3-1 victory over the Stetson Hatters on Friday evening at the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by the Georgia Southern Eagles.
The win marks the first time that the Trojans have won a season-opener under head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick.

BIRMINGHAM - The Florida Gators were selected to win the 2009 Southeastern Conference volleyball title in a preseason vote by the league’s 11 coaches. The Gators have claimed 18 consecutive SEC titles, which is the NCAA record for consecutive conference title wins. Coming off a 27-4 season and their 17th NCAA regional semifinal appearance in 18 years, the Gators also hold the nation’s longest stretch of 26-win seasons with 18 straight.

HUNTSVILLE – North All-Star MVP William Johnson turned in the kind of point guard performance coaches dream about. The Decatur star, who scored 13 points in the North’s 75-72 win over the South Thursday night in the 65th playing of the North-South All-Star game, also sank 5-of-6 free throws to seal the win.
The North All-Stars outscored the South 14-6 in the third quarter Thursday night and went on to post a 50-45 win in the 13th annual All-Star girls basketball contest.
The North girls edged the South in four games Thursday afternoon in volleyball.

Capital City Juniors (CCJ), a club volleyball organization for junior and senior high school girls, will hosts its inaugural event, the Heart of Dixie Tournament, this Saturday at Faulkner University’s Tine Davis Gymnasium and Multiplex.
The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. and run all the way through the championship matches later in the evening.
