MONTGOMERY – River Region Sports (RRS) announces the launch of a new website to cover central Alabama. The site, www.riverregionsports.com, will go live Feb. 1, 2009.  The goal of the Website is to dive deeper into the stories and allow the reader an intimate look at those who are involved in local sports.

“Our goal is to promote the stories that connect with the community from the high school, college and professional world with the intent to tell the back story,” said Graham Dunn, president and publisher of RRS. “Coverage of events is losing part of the account for several reasons. We hope to pick up the pieces and provide readers an opportunity to see what makes the athlete who he or she is.”

Updated daily, the new website will feature in-depth, first-run stories of players, coaches and those who are involved in local sports at all levels. Coverage of local colleges (AUM, Faulkner, Huntingdon, Troy and Alabama State) will be provided as well as continuous information on Alabama, Auburn and the Southeastern Conference.

High schools will be of major emphasis while local athletes will be featured along with youth and recreational sports.  Photo galleries and forums will provide readers an opportunity to post their views on current events.

RRS will also make available information at the click of a button – news and sports bulletins when immediately available, schedules of high schools in the River Region along with scores and highlights. The site will also feature RSS so that when news of your favorite team or school is posted, you’ll have immediate alert access.

Columns and opinions will be provided by local sports personalities such as Michael Butler of WTLS in Tallassee, Jim Tocco, former play-by-play announcer of the Montgomery Biscuits and Barry McKnight of SportsRadio 740.

Dunn covered tri-county sports through several media in the area for 12 years until taking a position at Faulkner University.  He begins his first stint as the developer of the new site along with 5-I Brand Marketing. He is available for interviews at (334) 398-1311.
