Eagles hold off rally to take win on the road

Contributed CLEVELAND, Ga.- Faulkner guard Chris Palmore scored eight straight points midway through the second half to fight off a Truett-McConnell rally as the Eagles raced away from the Bears 90-74 Saturday night. The Eagles (6-4), which won for the fifth time in a row, used a 20-5 run midway through the first half to help build a 43-33 lead at the break. Truett-McConnell failed to go away, however, trimming the Eagle lead to 55-51 with 12:03 to play. That’s when Palmore, who led all Faulkner scorer’s with 20 points, took over, hitting back-to-back three pointers and a driving layup to push the lead back to 12. The Bears never got closer than 10 the rest of the way. In addition to Palmore’s big night, Faulkner got 16 points and 10 rebounds from Randell Moore, 12 points from Adam Okechukwu and 11 from Darius McKnight. f. al hDe Hereford had nine points, all coming in the decisive second half. The Eagles shot 55 percent from the field and outrebounded the Bears 30-22. Truett-McConnell (6-15) was paced by Tulio Yamasita’s 22 points. Devonta McClain added 17 and Tyron Lewis 13 for the Bears.
