Moore paces Faulkner win over Brewton-Parker

Contributed Faulkner battled back from an early deficit and then pulled away from Brewton-Parker late to claim a 73-64 Southern States Athletic Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Tine Davis Gymnasium. The Eagles (11-7, 3-3 SSAC) trailed most of the first half, falling behind by as many as 11 points at 31-20 with 5:30 left. The Eagles clawed back to within 37-34 at the break, and grabbed the lead early in the second half. Faulkner pushed its lead to 8 with six minutes left, then secured the victory by hitting seven free throws in the final two minutes. The Barons (3-16, 0-7 SSAC) lost their chance at the upset by shooting only 33 percent from the field in the second half. The Eagles made 45 percent of their second-half shots. Faulkner was paced by Randall Moore’s 18 points and eight rebounds. Langston Williams added 11 points, while Chris Palmore chipped in 10. Brewton-Parker got 12 apiece from Andrew Dikas and Eddie Dixon, and 11 from Quin Kelley. Faulkner outrebounded Brewton-Parker 41-27. Faulkner plays at Auburn Montgomery Monday night at 7. |
