Contributed Faulkner’s De Hereford stole an inbounds pass with four seconds left to preserve the Eagles’ 60-57 victory Thursday night over Emmanuel in a Southern States Athletic Conference at Tine Davis Gymnasium. The game was tied at 55 with 2:02 left before Randell Moore and Hereford made baskets to give the Eagles a four-point lead with 1:16 left. The Lions trailed by three when Ben Brim, who had five 3s on the night, missed from long range with 5 seconds left. But Adam Okechukwu was off the mark on two free throw attempts, opening the door for Emmanuel. After an initial pass was knocked out of bounds, Hereford made the play that sealed the victory. “This game should do a lot for our mental state,” Faulkner head coach Jim Sanderson said. “We’ve lost a couple of tough games, so I think our guys really needed this tonight. I’m proud of them for really sticking with it. Faulkner (12-8, 4-4 SSAC) led 29-22 at halftime and by 11 early in the second half before Emmanuel battled back. Brim’s back-to-back three-point bombs gave the Lions (16-5, 4-4 SSAC) a five-point lead with 4:45 left, but the visitors could not hold it. Faulkner was led by Darius McKnight, who had 13 points, and Randell Moore, who added 10. Brim had 23 points for Emmanuel.
