Tigers have solid practice

AUBURN - The Auburn football team continued to prepare for Friday’s game against Alabama with a 90-minute workout in full pads Monday at the practice fields behind the Athletics Complex.

The Tigers typically take Monday off, but with the Iron Bowl slated for Friday, the normal practice schedule for the remainder of the week has been moved up by a day.

The team opened practice with special teams work before moving to individual and position drills. The offense and defense spent a considerable portion of practice working against the scout teams, before coming together to work against each other for the final two periods.

Following practice, head coach Gene Chizik said the Tigers had another good effort on the practice fields.

"We had a good practice tonight," said Chizik. "I felt like we had a physical practice and got a lot accomplished out there. I think we’re on the right track. The kids were enthusiastic and excited about practicing and preparing. We’ll need every minute we can get, but up to this point, we’re pleased with where we are."

Auburn will return to the practice fields Tuesday at 5 p.m. CT.

Auburn (7-4, 3-4 SEC) will host No. 2 Alabama (11-0, 7-0 SEC) on Friday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will kick off at 1:30 p.m. CT and be nationally televised by CBS.
