Lady Hawks lose to Birmingham Southern

Contributed BIRMINGHAM - The Huntingdon women’s basketball team fell to Birmingham-Southern on Sunday afternoon, 100-54, at the Bill Battle Coliseum. With the loss, the Lady Hawks fall to 1-6 on the season, while the Lady Panthers improve to 6-2 overall. Junior Maggie Decker and freshman Devin Douglas led Huntingdon with nine points each. Decker, who was making her season debut, also added seven rebounds. Junior Brittney McCurry chipped in seven points. Senior Lori Bonds finished with a team-high eight rebounds, while junior Logan Tedder snagged a team-leading three steals. Decker had the lone block for the Lady Hawks. BSC’s Stephanie Stanley led all players with 12 points, as the Panthers had 16 different players score. They also forced 30 turnovers in the contest, while holding Huntingdon to 32.7 percent shooting from the floor. The Lady Hawks will return to action on Dec. 29, when they participate in the Holiday Classic, hosted by LaGrange. Huntingdon will open the tournament against Blackburn College at 1 p.m. |
