Lady Hawks lose to Blackburn

Contributed LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon women’s basketball team dropped its opening contest in the LaGrange College Classic, falling to Blackburn 82-51 on Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Lady Hawks fell to 1-7 on the season, while Blackburn improved to 2-8. Senior Lori Bonds paced Huntingdon with 17 points, while adding a team-high nine rebounds. Bonds posted 13 of her points in the first half, keeping the Lady Hawks close, as they trailed by only three points, 35-32, at the half. Fellow senior Kayla Schuran added nine points and six boards. Freshman Devin Douglas came off the bench to score nine points. For the game, Huntingdon converted 18-of-48 shots, but only 8-of-29 (27.6 percent) in the second half. The Beavers knocked down 39.5 percent of their shots for the game. Jasmine Robinson led three players in double figures for Blackburn with 19 points, while Andrea Kleinsorge finished with 14 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Huntingdon will look to rebound tomorrow, when it takes on Berry in the final game of the LaGrange College Classic. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. |
