Colin McKeen’s RBI single in the top of the seventh inning scored Sam McCormack with the winning run for West Alabama as the Tigers defeated AUM 4-3.

The Senators scored a run in the first when Jacob Salter scored on a UWA error off the bat of Sam Judah.  AUM added another run in the second inning when Salter dropped down a squeeze bunt scoring Jorden Johnson from third base.

UWA cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the fourth as Kevin Deese led off the inning with a double deep into the gap in left centerfield.  He would come around to score on a Dallas Rogers sacrifice fly.

AUM pushed its lead back out to two runs in the bottom of the fifth when a Judah single scored Justin Williams.  But that would be all of the scoring for AUM.

UWA tied the score at three in the top of the sixth when Deon Williams scored on a Brian Simone single and later in the inning Simone scored on a Bryan Mason hit.

AUM pitchers scattered six hits, but Tanner Gordon (0-1) was the hard luck loser.  Josh Varner (1-0) picked up the win in relief.  Brian Burgess came on and picked up the save pitching a scoreless ninth for the Tigers.

AUM had nine hits in the game with Chris Clements picking up three of those.  Judah finished with two RBI and Salter scored a run and had a RBI.

UWA starts the season with a win, while AUM falls to 2-3.  The Senators are back in action Saturday when they host Tennessee Wesleyan University at 3 p.m.
