Eastwood boys, girls come up short in state title quest

(Photo contributed) Staff Report The Eastwood Christian Warriors recently played in the ACEAA state basketball tournament held at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa. The Warriors defeated Victory Christian in a rematch of last year’s championship game. William Crew scored 31 points in the win. Paul Bartley added 14 points and 10 rebounds while Spencer Owen had 14 rebounds. The Warriors were unable to advance, losing to North River Christian Academy, 72-50, in the semifinals. The Eastwood girls also came within a game of winning the second-straight title but came up short in the finals, losing to Victory Christian of Columbus, Miss. The Lady Warriors had defeated Faith Christian Academy, 43-32, in the semis with KK Payne leading the way with 20 points. |
