Senators split with Mobile

Contributed MOBILE - Auburn University at Montgomery split a double-header at the University of Mobile, winning the first game 3-2 before dropping the second game 11-0. Game two was all Rams as the host team scored seven runs in the second inning off Josh Smith (0-1). The Senators defense did not help Smith as five of those seven runs were unearned. Chris Peacock (1-0) was the winner allowing only two hits in his two innings of work. Travis Williamson was the offensive leader in the game for Mobile with four hits and four RBI. AUM had single hits from Jacob Salter, Cody Chizmar, Sam Judah and Branden Kelley. Game one was a tight battle with Kyle Mitchell (1-0) picking up the win for AUM. He pitched the middle two innings of relief allowing only two hits. Will Sellers hit a home run and Bruce Alter and Michael Dugan each had two hits in the 10-hit attack. Sam Judah and Charles Lester had RBI hits for the Senators. Jared Fonseca came on in relief in the sixth inning and recorded the final four outs to pick up his second save of the season. He did not allow a hit and had a strikeout in his relief performance. AUM moves to 6-4 overall and Mobile is now 3-6. The Senators will be back in action Friday, when they host Trevecca Nazarene at noon. The two teams will then play again at noon on Saturday. The games were originally scheduled to be played in Nashville, but with the bad weather in the Nashville area, the two teams decided to move the weekend series to AUM.
