Taylor leads Brew Tech to season-opening win; ACA tops Chilton Co.

Staff Report Ben Taylor pitched five strong innings giving up four hits and striking out nine in Brewbaker Tech’s 5-2 victory over St. James on Wednesday. Hunter Brooks got the win, though. Hunter threw two innings of scoreless baseball striking out four and allowing just one hit. Offensively, Brew Tech’s Andrew Calhoun was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two walks. Hunter Brooks was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI. Trinity’s Weston Epperson was 2-for-3. Brew Tech (1-0) plays Saturday at home in a doubleheader against Jeff Davis (10 a.m.) and Montgomery Academy (2 p.m.). ACA tops Chilton County Dillon Patterson had three hits with two RBIs, and Chase Davis was 1-for-3 with an RBI in Alabama Christian Academy’s 11-2 win over Chilton County on Thursday. Winning pitcher Dalton Raybon allowed three hits and struck out four in five innings. ACA (2-0) hosts Lamp on Saturday. |
