Troy holds off MTSU

Contributed MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Troy’s Mike Vogler sank a pair of free throws with 18 seconds left as Troy held on for a 70-67 win in Sun Belt action on Thursday. Vogler scored 16 points and Brandon Hazzard led the team with 21 points, including 14 in the second half. Troy never trailed and survived a tie at 65 and MTSU cutting the lead to a point with 20 seconds left to end the Blue Raiders’ five-game winning streak and run its own to three games - a first this season. James Washington led MTSU with 15 points and James Gallman added 14 - all after halftime. The win combined with a loss by FAU, moved the Trojans into a tie for first place in the east division. The Trojans are in action next Saturday when they travel north to face Western Kentucky and complete the two-game road swing .Tip-off is set for 7 pm in Diddle Arena. |
