The Auburn University at Montgomery tennis teams remained unbeaten on the season as both teams pulled off solid wins on day 2 of the AUM Spring Tennis Invitational.
The morning weather once again pushed back the start times for the matches from 9 a.m. until noon. The AUM men played two matches today, playing their first match at noon against Xavier University. The Senators came out ready to play and easily cruised to a 5-0 victory.
After winning the three doubles matches 8-3, 8-4 and 8-2, AUM’s Alberto Romea and Michael Johnson won at one and two singles to complete the shutout.
The afternoon match was against Oklahoma Christian, again the Senators came out as the aggressor, winning all three doubles matches and finishing off OCU, again at one and two singles by Romea and Johnson.
The women’s team only played one match today and that was also against Oklahoma Christian. Like the men’s team, the Lady Senators defeated OCU 5-0, winning the three doubles matches 8-4, 8-6, 8-4.
The match was decided at two and four singles where Parija Maloo and Whitney Byred finished their singles matches.
The men are now 9-0 on the season while the women move to 6-0. Both teams will play at 9 a.m. tomorrow against an opponent to be named later tonight.
