Hawks finish sixth at Calloway

Combined Reports PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — The No. 2 ranked Huntingdon men’s golf team finished its second spring tournament of 2010 by finishing sixth at the Callaway Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday, after carding a final-round score of 314 on the par 72, 7,057 yard Mountain View Golf Course at Callaway Gardens. The Hawks finished the tournament 23 strokes behind Darton Community College, which won three consecutive National Junior College Championships from 2005-07. West Georgia finished second with a two-day total of 596, while Methodist was third with a total of 599. Rhodes and Oglethorpe rounded out the top five with scores of 613 and 616, respectively. Junior Chase Blaich paced the Hawks individually, finishing tied for 12th in the 85-man field. Blaich carded a final-round score of 76 and finished six strokes behind individual champion, Taylor Welborn of Darton. Welborn fired a final-round score of five-under par 67 and posted a total of 145 for the tournament. Fellow junior J.P. Kircher trimmed five strokes from his first round and posted a 76 in the final round to finish tied for 31st. Senior Cody Causey matched his first round 79 in the second round and finished tied for 35th. Sophomore Mack Duke and junior Jay Unis rounded out the scoring for Huntingdon with rounds of 83 and 86, respectively. The Hawks also had three individuals participating in the field, as seniors Charlie Hearn, Chad Lovelady and Jesse Collinsworth all competed. Hearn finished tied for 26th with rounds of 76 and 79, while Lovelady placed tied for 46th with a total of 163. Collinsworth ranked tied for 52nd, following rounds of 84 and 81. Huntingdon will return to the links on March 19-21, when it participates in the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate, hosted by Oglethorpe. Team Results Huntingdon individual scores and finishes
