PREP BASEBALL: Lee sweeps JD; Wetumpka beats Auburn

Bernard Davis clubbed two home runs and had five hits, six RBIs and two runs in Robert E. Lee’s sweep of Jeff Davis at Pete Lee Field on Friday.  Lee won Game 1, 10-4 and followed with a 13-3 win in the second game. The wins clinched a playoff spot for the Generals.

J.R. Harmon and Cody Ellis both hit grand slams in the doubleheader with Harmon’s coming in Game 1 while Ellis had one in the second game.

Ellis was the winning pitcher in the first game while Harmon had four RBIs and three runs. Ellis scored  a run and had four runs driven in in the second game.

Josh Davis had a home run, two RBIs and three runs while Cody Fike scored three runs in the two games.

Bobby Calhoun had four hits with three RBIs and a run to lead the Vols. Dennis Jones had an RBI and two runs in the doubleheader.

Lee (16-13, 4-2) will face Enterprise on Friday in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.

Wetumpka sweeps Auburn

WETUMPKA – Jamal Golden had four hits and two runs scored while Bradley Roney and Will Smith each picked up victories in Wetumpka’s sweep of Auburn, 5-4 and 10-0, on Friday.

Roney was also 2-for-3 in Game 1 while Reggie Golden was 3-for-3 in Game 2.

LAMP earns comeback win over Montevallo

MONTEVALLO – The LAMP Tigers spotted Montevallo a six-run lead before coming back to earn a 14-8 victory on Friday.

Bryan Young and Martin Bryant each homered for LAMP. Young had a three-run homer and he also added another run-scoring single. Harry Norman had four hits with three runs. He also picked up the win in relief. Chris Thomas added three hits and two runs driven in.

LAMP (19-14, 6-1) and Montevallo will complete the series on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m.  at Paterson Field.
