TALLASSEE — Trey Cochran-Gill knocked in five runs with four hits and earned the win on the mound in Tallassee’s 21-0 win over BTW-Tuskegee on Tuesday. The win clinched the Class 5A, Area 6 championship.

Davis Knapp and Brad Stone each went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Tyler Lynn and John Woodall also had two hits each. Woodall drove in four runs.

Tallassee (22-8, 5-0)  will complete the series with BTW-Tuskegee on Friday.

Auburn wins area title over Wetumpka

AUBURN – The Auburn Tigers clinched the Class 6A, Area 8 title with an 8-7 win over Wetumpka on Tuesday.

Drew Eiland got the win for Auburn (22-7, 6-1). He got a key strikeout of Reggie Golden in the sixth inning with the tying and go-ahead runs on base.

Wetumpka had one more chance to take the lead when Jake Levins’ RBI double pulled Wetumpka within a run in the seventh inning, Levins’ hit was a foot short of being a home run. Eiland got William Smith to fly out to end the threat.

Tyler Aldridge was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Wetumpka (17-9, 3-2 Area 8). Golden  and Bradley Roney each had an RBI while Shelby Nobles hit a solo home run.

Tanner Cimo had two hits and scored three runs for Auburn while Trey Gregg added two hits and four runs driven in.

The two teams will meet again on Friday in a doubleheader at Wetumpka.

Wicher leads Brew Tech over Catholic

Nick Wicher had four hits with four runs scored in Brewbaker Tech’s 18-7 win over Montgomery Catholic on Tuesday.

Wicher had two triples and four runs driven in. Cody Robinson and Owen Reese each had two hits and three RBIs for the Rams (18-7). Paul Harris was the winning pitcher.

Brew Tech travels to Opp Thursday to defend their 4A Area 2 title.

Trinity handles Bibb County

Trinity’s Matt Jeter had two hits with three RBIs in Trinity’s 12-2 win over Bibb County on Tuesday.

Mark White, Josh Watkins, Weston Epperson and Ty Moore all finished with two hits and one RBI. William Stabler added two hits and drove home a pair of runs.

Ellis leads Lee past JD

Cody Ellis had two hits with three RBIs and three runs scored to help the Robert E. Lee Generals beat Jeff Davis 14-9, Tuesday at Pete Lee Field.

Josh Davis hit a two-run homer, and Steven Potter finished with three hits and a pair of RBIs for Lee. Ryan Pinkham got a oomplete-game victory for Lee.

Catholic beats ACA in soccer

Catholic defeated Alabama Christian Academy, 4-3, in a shoot out Tuesday night.

Costa Whitehead scored two goals and Kevin Whorton had one goal in regulation periods. Catholic outscored ACA 5-4 in the shoot out to take the win.

ACA next plays at home Thursday night against region foe Trinity.

Lady Lions wallop Lee in softball

PRATTVILLE — Brooke Smitherman went 3-for-3 with a pair of homers and four RBIs to lead the Prattville Lady Lions to 16-2 win over Robert E. Lee in area play Tuesday.

Jo Jo Fallen finished with a pair of hits, and Caitlin Joiner had a two-run homer. Hayden Strickland earned the win by with six strikeouts in five innings.
