AUM softball adds five newcomers

Contributed Auburn Montgomery head softball coach Christina Wilcoxson has announced the signing of five players to the Lady Senators roster for the 2010-11 season. Carol Ann McIntyre, Selma, will continue her career at AUM following two years at Jefferson State Community College. She hit .414 last season with five home runs and was named First-Team All-State and First-Team All-Conference. She is a utility player and will join her big sister Haley McIntyre at AUM, who is a senior on the Lady Senators basketball team. Kaylyn Graydon, Lake Worth, Fla., can play either third or first base. She played the past two years at Indian River Community College and hit .310 last season with five homeruns. She was a second-team all-conference selection. Wilcoxson also signed Montgomery native Courtney Baker. She played at Hooper Academy and was named the Montgomery Region Player of the Year. She was also named First-Team All-State and was the AISA Player of the Year. She finished her career at Hooper as the career hitting leader and set every pitching record. She will continue her career on the mound with the Lady Senators. Jyssica Pepper, Madison, can play third base, shortstop or second base. She is a graduate of East Limestone High School where she hit .538 with 78 hits and 21 doubles. For good measure she had 21 stolen bases. She was a 5A First-Team All-State selection and was a Huntsville All-Region honoree as well as a North High School All-Star pick. Wilcoxson was able to reach into the California high school ranks and sign Cheyenna Kawal, Victorville, Calif. Kawal hit .350 last season at Serrano High School and was named the Mojave River League Most Valuable Player. She hit five homeruns and had 35 RBI. Kawal will play at third base and will be used some as a designated hitter. |
