Contributed Auburn Montgomery head women’s basketball coach Dan Davis has announced the signing of three players to the 2010 recruiting class. Lacey Griffin, Westville, Fla., will transfer to AUM from the University of West Alabama. She spent one season in Livingston and averaged over five points and two rebounds per game from her guard position. She spent her first two collegiate seasons on the hard court at Alabama Southern Community College and averaged 11 points and made 119 three-point baskets over her two years. She was also twice named first-team all-conference. Griffin will major in business administration. Areial Woods, Aliceville, will transfer to AUM from Shelton State Community College. She started all 31 games last season at a guard position and averaged over six points and two rebounds per outing. She led the team in assists with 122 and was named to the 2010 All-ACCC Tournament Team while leading Shelton State to consecutive state championships. She will major in physical education. Haley Williams, Dothan, rounds out the signing class. She will transfer to AUM from Southern Union State Community College. She played guard and averaged over 10 points and three rebounds per outing. She was named a First-Team All-ACCC pick and was a Second-Team All-ACCC Region honoree. She is majoring in secondary education. The Lady Senators will also welcome back senior Haley McIntyre, Selma, who missed all of last season with an injury. The senior from Selma was an All-SSAC pick following the 2008-09 season when she averaged 13 points and over six rebounds per game. McIntyre is a physical education major. “Our staff is excited about the 2010 class and what they will bring to our program on and off the court,” Davis said. “With the addition of these three new players and the return of Haley McIntyre and redshirt freshman Ashley Grimes, we feel all of these players will bring speed and much needed scoring to our team.” |
