Former Macon-East star Selph signs with Senators; Alter, Dugan scholar athletes

Contributed Former Macon-East standout Daniel Selph has signed to play with the Auburn Montgomery baseball program. The left-handed pitcher graduated from Macon-East in 2008 and has played the past two seasons at Central Alabama Community College. “I am excited to have another local player who has a quality arm and good work habits,” head coach Q.V. Lowe said. “I look forward to working with Daniel over the next two years.” Central Alabama finished this past season with a 30-19 record. Selph was used mainly as a reliever and had an earned run average of 5.25 while the opposition only hit .213 off him. Alter, Dugan named scholar athletes The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 197 baseball players have been named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Baseball Scholar-Athletes. Bruce Alter and Michael Dugan of Auburn Montgomery were named to the team. Both players are from Montgomery and both players received the same honor last year. Alter is a senior and is majoring in biology while Dugan is a junior and is a pre-engineering and math major. Nominated by each institution’s head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, have achieved junior academic status to qualify and Nominee has been in attendance at the nominating institution two full academic years as a non-transfer student or a minimum of one full academic year as a transfer student. |
