Combined Reports Former Sidney Lanier High School standout Henry Tellis has announced that the annual Camp P.R.I.D.E. (Personal Responsibility In Delievering Excellence) will be held Saturday, June 12, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Cramton Bowl. It is open to football players of all ages. The camp will focus on character building, peer pressure, personal hygiene, and physical health. Professional players, college athletes and coaches from across the state will be involved to share life stories and to participate in various drills, activities, and relays with the young men and women at the camp. The camp is free for all participants. Lunch will be provided as well as , water bottles, T-shirts, and other items. Registration will continue through the day of the event. AUM camps finalized The baseball and softball summer camps at Auburn Montgomery have been finalized. The Camp of Champions Baseball Camp will be July 12-16 and will be held at the AUM Baseball Complex. The camp will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and will cost $125. There are two weeks of the Lady Senators Softball Camp. The first week will run from June 7-10 and the second week will run June 28-July 1. The camp will be held at the AUM Softball Complex and will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The camp is for ages 5 and up and will cost $125. Huntingdon College to hold several camps The Huntingdon College Athletic Department will offer a variety of summer camps for local youth this summer, a football camp, two sessions of basketball camps, three baseball clinics and the 31st season of the Alabama Tennis Academy. The Huntingdon Youth Football Camp will be held from June 7-10 from 8 a.m. until noon and is open to kids ages 6-12. Each camper will receive individual instruction to increase basic football skills, in a “non-contact” setting. Participants will be placed in practice groups according to age, skill level, and size. During the four-day session campers will receive instruction in both offensive and defensive aspects of the game. Daily schedules will include two morning sessions with a snack break. Football skills and team competitions will allow participants to display their individual talents while participating in a group setting. The cost of the camp is $100 and will include a camp T-shirt and a daily snack. The Huntingdon Baseball Summer Camp will be held from June 2-4 and June 23-25, at Posey Field on Huntingdon’s campus. The camp, which costs $120, is open to children ages 5-15 and will be held from 8 a.m. to noon each day. The camp is designed to incorporate all fundamentals of the game of baseball, highlighted by pitching, hitting and base running drills and instructions. Included in the registration fee is a camp T-shirt for each camper. The Hawks baseball program will also host their first annual Pitchers and Catchers camp on June 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open to children from ages 7-15 and at the low cost of just $75, pitchers and catchers will receive individual instruction and evaluation while participating in a series of drills performed by collegiate athletes. Each position will be instructed with a camp style mentality before moving into drill work and bullpens. The Huntingdon Men’s Basketball team will offer two individual camps, June 21-24 and July 26-29, for children ages 6-17. The camp will feature instruction from Huntingdon’s coaching staff and is designed to improve all aspects of the game, including shooting, ball handling and dribbling and passing and receiving. The camp, which costs $160 and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, will also feature individual and team competitions and 5-on-5 competition, all while focusing on the fun and fundamentals of basketball. In addition to an improved knowledge of the game, each camper will receive a camp T-shirt and customized basketball. Discount rates are available for siblings. Headed by Huntingdon Tennis Director John McWilliams, the Alabama Tennis Academy is entering its 31st season and continues its tradition of providing quality instruction in a wholesome environment. The Alabama Tennis Academy invites both boys and girls, ages 10-17, to improve their skills and to minimize their weaknesses with professional tennis instruction. The academy attracts players at all skill levels as well as boys and girls who have not played tennis but show an interest in the game. Alabama State camps set Alabama State basketball coaches Lewis Jackson and Freda Freeman-Jackson have announced the plans for their annual summer camps. The Lewis Jackson Basketball Camp will be held June 7-10 while the Freda Freeman-Jackson Girls Basketball Camp is set for June 14-17. Lewis Jackson, a two-time Southwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and former Alabama State and Wetumpka High School standout, offers a camp designed for children ages 8-18 with both day and overnight camper options available. Jackson’s talented camp staff works with players of various ages and skill levels to develop and improve their games during the summer camp session. Women’s head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson, the winningest women’s basketball coach in ASU history and a former Lady Hornet standout, also offers a camp with both day and overnight camper options available. Campers at the Girls Basketball Camp take part in daily individual and team instruction on fundamentals while also participating in exciting game-style opportunities.
