Hawks golfer named to golf scholar team

Contributed Huntingdon junior women’s golfer Kaitlin Rozof has been named the first player in the program’s history to earn membership on the All-American Scholar Team, the National Golf Coaches Association announced earlier this week. Rozof, who was one of the members of the inaugural Huntingdon women’s golf team from the 2008-09, was one of 494 NCAA Division I, II and III student-athletes recognized by the NGCA this season. Entering her third season with the program, the Pre-Med and Religion double major averaged 96.23 strokes per round, while having 11 of her 13 rounds played count toward the team score. In addition to Rozof, several other student-athletes from the state of Alabama were named to the All-America team. Joining the Helena, Ala., native, were Patricia Sanz from Auburn University, Brooke Pancake, Helena Blomberg and Jennifer Kirby of the University of Alabama, Elizabeth Balkcom and Haley Lawrence from Troy University, Ana Garcia, Anna Sellen-Runefjell, Claudia Wolf, Kristen Golightly and Nina Offenberg from the University of South Alabama and Jennifer Commander from Birmingham-Southern. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year. Rozof was one of 71 Division III student-athletes to garner the honor. |
