Contributed JACKSON, Tenn – Jarrett Grube allowed just one infield single over seven scoreless innings, and the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (61-54) coasted to a 9-1 pounding of the Biscuits (60-54) Wednesday afternoon at Pringles Park. The Jaxx hopped on Biscuits starter David Newmann early on. After a passed ball allowed the first run of the game to score, Joe Dunigan launched a three run homer to make it 4-0. They’d add three against Newmann in the fourth, getting a two-run double from Brandon Bantz and an RBI single from Carlos Truinfel. Heath Rollins allowed two runs in the fifth to sink the Biscuits into a 9-0 hole. Drew Anderson scored Chris De La Cruz with a single in the eighth, one of just five Biscuits hits on the afternoon. Grube (3-4) struck out seven and walked two over his seven dominant shutout frames. Newmann (3-9) was chased after 3.1, allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks. Justin Dowdy and Ryan Reid combined to throw three hitless relief innings to highlight the Biscuits afternoon. John Matulia was the lone Biscuit to record multiple hits, going 2-4 to finish the series 12-21. Jeremy Hall will throw for the Biscuits Thursday at 7:05 as they begin a five-game set in Mississippi against the Braves. Julio Teheran counters for Mississippi. |
