Contributed PEARL, Miss. – Alex Cobb was solid through six innings, and Matt Fields launched a two-run homer to help the Biscuits (62-56) silence the Mississippi Braves (52-66), 7-1, Sunday at Trustmark Park. Cobb (6-4) grabbed his second straight win, allowing a run on seven hits over six innings, striking out four and walking none for the second start in a row. Josh Satow hurled the final three innings without allowing a hit. After Randall Delgado (0-5) retired the first six Biscuits with ease, they jumped on him in the third with four straight hits to begin the frame. Mike Folli and Emeel Salem each drove in runs with hits, and Drew Anderson made it 3-0 with a sacrifice fly. They added two in the fourth on a two-out Salem single, and got Fields’ HR in the eighth against Jaye Chapman. It was the first homer allowed by Chapman all season. The lone Braves run came in the fourth inning, with Donell Linares scoring Eric Duncan with a bounce out. Delgado, who has now lost all five of his double-A starts, went seven innings and struck out five while walking four. Salem and Fields led the Biscuits with two hits apiece. Each of the last seven games Salem has recorded hits in have been two-hit performances. Now two games out of the wild card in the South Division, the Biscuits will look to salvage a .500 roadtrip in the series rubber match at 7:05 Monday. Rayner Oliveros will toss for Montgomery against Mississippi Jacob Thompson. |
