Hawks welcome newcomers in basketball, tennis

Contributed Huntingdon women’s basketball coach Buzz Phillips has announced the addition of 12 newcomers who have completed their intent to enroll paperwork and have committed to play for the Lady Hawks during the upcoming season. Heather Kelly (Deatsville, Ala./East Memorial Christian Academy), Teal Longerbeam (Wetumpka, Ala./Wetumpka HS), Tristiana Mays (Montgomery, Ala./Wallace-Hanceville CC), Jodi Montalvo (Crestview, Fla./Crestview HS), Tyger Paris (Munford, Ala./Munford HS), Raven Prater (Piedmont, Ala./Piedmont HS), Ashleah Roberts (Sulligent, Ala./Sulligent HS), Lauren Rozof (Helena, Ala./Kingwood Christian), Kali Sands (Palm City, Fla./Martin County HS), Jodi Thomas (Columbus, Ga./Northside HS), Melissa Wallace (Phenix City, Ala./Central HS) and Sam Wesson (Ocean Springs, Miss./Ocean Springs HS) have been accepted to Huntingdon and will suit up for the Lady Hawks during the 2010-11 season. “I am very excited about this new class,” Phillips said. “This is a group of talented young ladies, who I think can come in and make an immediate impact on our program.” Men’s tennis team signs five Fifth-year men’s tennis coach and Huntingdon Hall of Famer Charlie Lane has announced the addition of five newcomers who have completed their intent to enroll paperwork and have committed to play for the Hawks during the upcoming season. Dylan Carr (Luverne, Ala./Crenshaw Christian Academy), Tyler Creamer (Florence, Ala./Florence HS), Matt Provow (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla./Northwest Florida State College), Rickey Reed (Wilmer, Ala./Citronelle HS) and Adam Sexton (Columbus, Ga./Northside HS) have been accepted to Huntingdon and will compete for the Hawks beginning this fall. "I am excited about adding these student-athletes to our program,” Lane said. “In addition to being quality tennis players, they have even better character and will be excellent ambassadors for Huntingdon College. Our team certainly improved by the addition of these young men." Women’s tennis signs five Huntingdon ninth-year women’s tennis coach Ximena Moore has announced the addition of five newcomers who have completed their intent to enroll paperwork and have committed to play tennis for the Lady Hawks during the upcoming season. Taylor Bean (Hartselle, Ala./Hartselle HS), Hannah Creamer (Killen, Ala./Florence HS), Chelsea McKnight (Birmingham, Ala./Fultondale HS), Sandra Pattison (Shalimar, Fla./Choctawhatchee Senior HS) and Wytesha Underwood (Centreville, Ala./Bibb County HS) have been accepted to Huntingdon and will compete for the Lady Hawks beginning this fall. “I am very happy to announce the additions of this group of young ladies to our program,” Moore said. “I look forward to our team having to set new athletic and academic goals for the upcoming season.” |
