Heat does not slow Tigers’ workout

Contributed AUBURN. - The Auburn football team concluded its second day of double practice duty with a pair of 90 minute sessions on the outdoor practice fields behind the Auburn Athletics Complex Thursday. Speaking to the media following the first practice of the day, which began at 10 a.m., Auburn head coach Gene Chizik noted the Tigers effort pushing through the heat and humidity. "Today was a really good practice," Chizik said. "I thought they really pushed through. They stayed focused. It was a warm day, which we needed. We tried to do some teaching stuff from yesterday’s scrimmage and then go back and rep some things. I really think they tried to get better at stuff they weren’t good at last night." Auburn’s second practice of the day began just after 7 p.m. Defensive line coach Tracy Rocker said the Tigers continued working on correcting mistakes from Wednesday’s scrimmage, which he noted gave the coaches a solid look at the defenses progress thus far in the preseason. "There were some good and bad things in the scrimmage," Rocker said. "The offense started off strong but the defense got settled and guys started making plays. It was a good measure of the talent we have and the direction we need to go. " Auburn will take off Friday from the practice fields, but return Saturday with a pair of practices including a morning scrimmage. All practices are closed to the media and public. |
