TUSCALOOSA – With temperatures reaching triple digits on Wednesday, the Alabama football team moved practice indoors to the climate controlled Hank Crisp Indoor Facility for the first time this fall. The Crimson Tide held a two-hour practice session in shells.

“It was kind of an unexpected bone that Coach Saban threw us,” junior center William Vlachos said about moving practice indoors due to the heat. “That hasn’t happened often, if ever as far as I can remember.

“It was a scorcher and it has been hot all of camp, but when you go in there you have to fly around and pick up the intensity and finish with a little extra or you will never get to do it again. It was nice to be able to go in there today and we got some good work in.”

Junior defensive lineman Marcell Dareus was named to the Ted Hendricks Awards Watch List Tuesday. The Hendricks Award, now entering its ninth season, is given to the best defensive end in the nation. David Pollack of Georgia is the only Southeastern Conference player to ever win the award, bringing home the honor in 2003 and 2004. Dareus was the defensive MVP of the 2010 Citi BCS National Championship Game.

Fans can continue to catch action from Alabama’s fall camp this week with College Football Special: Alabama All-Access. The week-long series airs each night in thirty-minute installments at 6 p.m. CDT on ESPNU. Next week an hour-long program titled Training Days: Rolling with the Alabama Crimson Tide, will air Wednesday night at 6 p.m. on ESPNU and Thursday evening at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

The Crimson Tide will have their second two-a-day of fall camp tomorrow with two-hour practices at 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
