TUSCALOOSA –Alabama was back outside Thursday morning for a workout in full pads at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility following a training session indoors on Wednesday night in an effort to give the players some relief from the intense heat. 

The first round of fall camp’s second two-a-day marked the ninth practice for the Crimson Tide in preparation for the Sept. 4 game against San Jose State at Bryant-Denny Stadium.  Head coach Nick Saban will turn the focus of the week’s remaining practices towards getting the team ready for the fall’s first scrimmage on Saturday.

“We have a lot of really good, talented players that are young players who have a ways to go to develop in terms of how they’re going to contribute to the team,” Saban said.  “The next few days in practice, leading up to the scrimmage, we really want to find out who those guys are.”

With experience being somewhat hard to come by, seasoned players such as junior safety Mark Barron are being relied on to help the younger guys cope with the difficulties of camp.

“We have a lot of younger guys right now and sometimes the process of learning gets frustrating,” Barron said. “Some people have good days and bad days.  That’s why we have teammates though.  We try to help motivate each other when we see one of our teammates down.”

The Tide will hold a single training session on Friday at 2:30 p.m. before closing out week two of fall camp with Saturday’s 2:30 scrimmage at Bryant-Denny Stadium.  All practices are closed to the public.
