Rain was falling most of the afternoon on Tuesday but the weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the 40 players from the state who are participating in the 25th Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic, slated for Saturday at Cramton Bowl.
The team went through its first two practices of the week at the John Mark Stallings Field on the campus of Faulkner University, looking to continue the winning streak against Mississippi that dates back to 2007.

It’s no secret in today’s world of coaching - in order to keep a job, keep winning.
Scott Rials is proof.
After building the football program at South Montgomery County Academy into a AISA state title contender, he moved on to Elba in 2004.

As has been the case throughout the playoffs, the combination of quarterbacks Justin Thomas as Jalen Whitlow was too much for Central-Phenix City in the Lions’ 45-12 victory in the Class 6A semifinals at Stanley-Jensen Stadium on Friday.

One more step to the Super Six.
That’s what 24 teams have in mind on Friday as the semifinal round of the AHSAA playoffs take place.
Only one team in the River Region has survived. No surprise that it’s the Prattville Lions, who have been impressive in the post season.

It may not earn the "Game of the Century" moniker but Friday’s second-round game between Prattville and Daphne is certainly on the large scale.
The two teams battle in the Class 6A bracket and lead the four games involving teams from the River Region this week.
