Carver advances to 6A final with win over Hoover

BIRMINGHAM - James J.J. Jackson believed his G.W. Carver Wolverines were prepared for a down-to-the-wire finish at the AHSAA Final 48.

His premonition proved to be correct.

BIRMINGHAM - Due to threat of inclement weather and on the advice of the National Weather Service, the AHSAA Final 48 State Basketball Championship games scheduled for 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. tonight are postponed until Saturday, AHSAA Executive Director Steve Savarese announced. The revised schedule now has eight championship games scheduled for Saturday.

BIRMINGHAM – The St. Jude Pirates were in position to advance to the finals of the AHSAA Class 1A finals on Tuesday.

The Pirates had trailed for much of the game but fought back to tie late in the fourth quarter.

MOBILE – For Montgomery Academy, heading south in the AHSAA basketball playoffs has become a good thing.

The Lady Eagles won their second-consecutive Class 3A South Regional with a resounding 82-53 victory over hometown rival LAMP on Saturday at the Mitchell Center on the campus of Unv. of South Alabama
