AUM men lose basketball opener

PULASKI, Tenn. —- Despite Justin Zachary’s 15 points in his college debut, the Auburn University at Montgomery men’s basketball team could not overcome a quick start by No. 5 Martin Methodist, as it fell on the road to the Redhawks, 83-60, in each team’s season opener Monday.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas  – The Huntingdon football team put together some impressive wins during the past month.

The Hawks knocked off then-14th ranked Hampden-Sydney on Sept. 24 and took down then-11th-ranked Wittenberg last week. But on Saturday, 18th-ranked Trinity University was too much for Huntingdon to overcome.

Shorter scored 31 unanswered points to build a big first-half lead then used its punishing ground attack to hold off a Faulkner rally, finishing off the Eagles 52-34 here Saturday afternoon in a Mid-South Conference West Division battle at Cramton Bowl.

TUSCALOOSA – Second-ranked Alabama handled No. 12 Arkansas, 38-14, before a sellout crowd of 101,821 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.  With the win the Crimson Tide improves to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the Southeastern Conference while the Razorbacks fall to 3-1 (0-1 SEC)

TUNICA, Miss. – Huntingdon junior Sam Strachan finished two strokes out of first and the Huntingdon men’s golf team tied for second in the Rhodes Fall Classic on Monday… The Alabama State University women’s golf team is in 12th place after one round of the Valpo Invitational, hosted by Valpariso University.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – No. 3 ranked Alabama (2-0) came away with a 27-11 victory over the 23rd-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions (1-1) on Saturday at Beaver Stadium before a crowd of 107,846. The Crimson Tide had 359 yards of total offense, 194 rushing and 165 receiving, while the defense forced a pair of fumbles and collected one interception in the game.

Tide back outdoors for Penn State prep; parking issues may hinder Tide travelers

TUSCALOOSA – Alabama returned outdoors as the Crimson Tide practiced for two hours in full pads, Wednesday afternoon at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields… Heavy rain this week combined with predictions of continued rainfall into Friday have led to the closure of several grass parking lots near Penn State’s Beaver Stadium for Saturday’s football game against Alabama. Approximately 2,500 vehicles will be redirected to offsite parking lots; free shuttles will be provided to patrons parking in these areas.
