A season with high expectations began slowly for No. 8 Faulkner, with the bats silenced for much of the season opener against Southeastern here Friday afternoon.
The Eagles struck late to send the game into extra innings, then won 4-3 in dramatic fashion in the first game of a doubleheader at Harrison Field.

Seniors Adam Okechukwu and Chris Palmore both hit big shots in a key stretch as Faulkner broke open a close game and raced away to a 66-56 victory over Auburn Montgomery here Thursday night in a crucial Southern States Athletic Conference showdown at the Physical Education Complex on the AUM campus… Faulkner smothered Auburn Montgomery defensively here Thursday night, holding the Warhawks without a basket for the final 10-plus minutes of the game en route to a 58-49 victory in a Southern States Athletic Conference battle at AUM’s Physical Education Complex.

When Brent Barker became the head football coach at Faulkner University last December, he vowed to change the dynamic in the Eagles’ program, which had produced just 10 victories in five seasons. If National Signing Day is any indication, Barker and his staff have done just that.

It’s quite easy for Faulkner head coach Patrick McCarthy’s mind to wander back to mid-May of last year, when on a chilly Monday afternoon his team accomplished a program first – earning a berth in the NAIA World Series with a heart-stopping victory in the final game of the Kingsport Bracket in Tennessee.

MOBILE – Spring Hill grabbed an early lead and never lost control, holding off a late Faulkner rally en route to a 74-62 victory over the Eagles here Saturday afternoon in a Southern States Athletic Conference West Division victory at the Outlaw Recreation Cente… Faulkner had most of a 19-point, second-half lead evaporate before a Spenser Cantrell 3-pointer at the shock-clock buzzer with less than a minute to play slammed the door on Spring Hill, allowing the Eagles to escape with a 78-70 victory here Saturday afternoon in a Southern States Athletic Conference West Division battle at the Outlaw Recreation Center.

Faulkner held Loyola to only 12 first-half points and then held off the Wolfpack in the second half to earn a ?? victory here Thursday night in a Southern States Athletic Conference West Division showdown at Tine Davis Gymnasium… With leading scorer Keiva Council struggling throughout the night, 23rd-ranked Loyola turned to Jasmine Brewer and Amy Moody to pick up the slack and the pair combined for 55 points as the Wolfpack edged Faulkner 90-84 in overtime here Thursday night in a Southern States Athletic Conference game at Tine Davis Gymnasium

Adam Okechukwu and Jake Mitchell hit big shots down the stretch, then Faulkner made 14 straight free throws to hold off William Carey as the Eagles grabbed their first Southern States Athletic Conference victory of the season here Saturday afternoon with a 60-50 decision at Tine Davis Gymnasium.
