As of Wednesday, the landscape of the Alabama High School Athletic Association has changed.
On Wednesday, the AHSAA officially released its new classifications for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 calendar years. The news created a stir for many of the schools in the River Region.
Several schools moved into new classifications while others have new regional and area rivals.

It’s a new week and a new life for teams that reached the post season.
Both the AHSAA and AISA playoffs open on Friday after plenty of fireworks in the northern half of the state. After three court orders, the Class 6A north bracket is settled with Clay-Chalkville out and Gadsden City back in the playoffs.

The panel enjoys another first this week.
After a season seemingly filled with first-time events, a new one comes as River Region Sports’ Graham Dunn takes over the panel lead. He followed up a perfect week with another solid performance (13-2) and broke the tie with Michael Butler.
