The Alabama State University football team maintained its place as the top-ranked team in Black College Football in several polls. The Hornets also moved into the FCS Sports Network/Fathead.com Top 25 for the first time since 2005.

The 33rd annual men’s city golf championship will be held Friday-Sunday at Lagoon Park Golf Course. Deadline to enter the tournament is Wednesday at 5 p.m… Class 4A All-state basketball player Marqu’es Webb has left Brewbaker Tech and will transfer to another school, according to her mother, LaTangela Sanderson.
