Cramton Bowl schedule opens with All-Star game

When the North meets the South in the 59th All-Star Football game next week, it begins another action-packed 2018 calendar for Cramton Bowl.

More than 30 games are scheduled for the bowl, culminating with the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game on Monday, Dec. 17.

Coastal Carolina centerfielder Parker Chavers picked up his third national honor.. The third-annual Tyrone Rogers Golf Tournament has been set for July 21 at Lagoon Park Golf Course.

Tony Stallworth has worked at every level of administration, from coaching to high school principal to county school system administrator to associate executive director at the Alabama High School Athletic Association. 

While he has excelled at every step, most of the people still refer to him as “Coach,” a reflection of his success on the court at Brantley High, a court that was renamed in his honor.

New AISA football schedule includes return of SECIS Classic

What was thought gone is now back.

The third annual SECIS Kickoff Classic will be held at Cramton Bowl on Aug. 10-11 and will include Bessemer Academy and Tuscaloosa Academy.

A trip to the batting cage provided a short-term fix to Alabama Christian’s hitting woes, but it wasn’t enough to bring the Eagles a state championship.

Alabama Christian managed just three runs on the first day of the Alabama High School Athletic Association state softball tournament, losing to Hale County 1-0 before rebounding to beat Cherokee County 2-0.

At least, that might be Randy Stough’s motto after his Prattville Christian team ran through the bracket undefeated and grabbed the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 3A state softball championship at Lagoon Park Softball Complex.

ACA advances to state softball tourney

Alabama Christian advanced to the state softball tournament for the 21st time in the last 22 years, defeating Satsuma, 5-3, to earn one of the two Class 4A qualifiers from the South Regional at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

Trinity, MA win girls soccer titles

HUNTSVILLE - Trinity Presbyterian tied the Girls Class 4A/5A State Championship match with Guntersville with just 2:29 left in regulation, 1-1, then weathered two overtime periods and outscored the Wildcats 4-3 in the sudden death shootout to win 2-1 at the John Hunt Soccer Complex.

In a title match involving two teams that hit the baseball, steal bases and score runs, it was pitching that took center stage in the Alabama Independent School Association Class AA state baseball tournament at Paterson Field on Tuesday afternoon.

The best-of-three series was settled in two games because of the efforts of Drew Baker and Tucker Neven, a pair of Macon East Academy hurlers that helped the Knights sweep Autauga 8-3 and 4-3 for their second consecutive state championship.

Shelby Lowe was everything Macon East Academy expected, but once again the Knights had an answer for the Pickens Academy ace.

Macon East (55-11) scored the game’s first two runs with the help of errors, added two more in the fifth, then withstood a Pirate rally over the last three at-bats to win 4-3 and advance to the winner’s bracket finals in the AISA Class AA state softball tournament at Lagoon Park on Friday evening.
