Hawks hold off Berry

Huntingdon men’s basketball coach Mike Pugh challenged his team at halftime on Tuesday.

Nursing a one-point lead against Berry College, Pugh wanted his team to set the second-half tempo with defense. The Hawks answered the challenge by allowing 19 points in the final 20 minutes and knocking off the Vikings 75-57 at Roland Arena

Huntingdon freshman Chelsea Graham has been learning the system and gaining the confidence of her teammates this season.

An accurate shooter from the perimeter, Graham’s 3-point prowess has been on display since Game 1.  Ten games into the season, Graham has become an important part of the Huntingdon offense.

Faulkner dominated from the outset, getting 20 points and 19 rebounds from All-American Brittney Carter en route to a 87-62 victory over New Orleans here Thursday night on the first day of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Huntingdon College’s Roland Arena… Sophomore Keisha Moore scored 24 of a season-high 85 points for the Auburn University at Montgomery women’s basketball team, but Martin Methodist had three players score in double figures as the Warhawks fell to the Redhawks, 90-85, in each team’s opening game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, hosted by Huntingdon College at Roland Arena… The Huntingdon Lady Hawks didn’t get the final result they wanted on Thursday against Millsaps College. MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Huntingdon safety Keith Anthony stepped on to Mall of America Field on Saturday, appreciative of one more opportunity to play football.

Playing in the All American Bowl at the Metrodome, the Eclectic native tried to soak in the atmosphere with Huntingdon receivers Willie McDowell and Cody Pearcy. A few hours later, Anthony was being congratulated for being named Defensive Player of the Game for the Stripes team.

BIRMINGHAM – The Huntingdon men’s basketball team started strong Wednesday night. But 19th-ranked Birmingham-Southern took the lead shortly before halftime and never trailed again. The Panthers controlled the second half and won 93-75.
