As of Wednesday, the landscape of the Alabama High School Athletic Association has changed.
On Wednesday, the AHSAA officially released its new classifications for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 calendar years. The news created a stir for many of the schools in the River Region.
Several schools moved into new classifications while others have new regional and area rivals.

Most of the AHSAA teams in the River Region will open play on Friday with several games featuring old rivalries and a few new ones as well.

The 2011 postseason has been about comebacks for the LAMP Golden Tigers.
But the tables were turned on Saturday.
The Gordo Greenwave (33-7) fought back from a 2-0 deficit to score all nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings to eliminate upstart LAMP, 9-4, and move into the championship series of Class 3A next Wednesday.

Gordo (32-7) scored early and then enjoyed a big sixth inning to pull away for an 8-4 win over the Tigers in the first game of the Class 3A semifinals at Paterson Field.

The LAMP Tigers are becoming predictable.
And that’s a good thing.
LAMP eliminated the Northside Rams, 8-5 and 11-0 in five innings, Friday at Paterson Field to move into the semifinals of the Class 3A playoffs.
The losses end the season for Northside at 22-12 while LAMP (20-20) awaits the winner of the Gordo-Clarke County series in the semifinals The two teams split their games Friday
