The Montgomery Quarterback Club announced its Players of the Week for games of September 8-10. Jeremy Johnson from G. W. Carver High School is the Public School Player of the Week and Toby King from Lowndes Academy is the Private School Player of the Week.

Regional races are in full swing and it looks as though several teams from the River Region will be in the thick of those races all season long.
But Friday could be vital for some teams on whether they are about winning the region or just a playoff spot.

What do you take from the first week of the regular season?
It’s hard to pick where to start but with regional action beginning, most teams will know pretty quickly if they are contenders or pretenders in 2011. Last week may have given some indication but Week 2 will tell a lot more.

The best of AISA baseball will compete in the annual All-Star baseball games will be played Monday at Troy University. The Juniors game open the festivities at 4 p.m. followed by the Seniors game at 7:30 p.m.

Paige Hill was called on time after time during Lowndes Academy’s run for an AISA Class AA state softball championship.
After 17 innings, there wasn’t enough left in the tank to finish the job.
Marengo Academy had few struggles with one exception in earning its second-consecutive AISA Class AA state softball championship at Lagoon Park. The Lady Horns defeated their biggest nemesis, Lowndes Academy, twice on Saturday to earn the title.
