As of Wednesday, the landscape of the Alabama High School Athletic Association has changed.
On Wednesday, the AHSAA officially released its new classifications for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 calendar years. The news created a stir for many of the schools in the River Region.
Several schools moved into new classifications while others have new regional and area rivals.

In only 24 hours the world has been turned upside down in Class 6A, Region 4
With the announcement that Wetumpka will be forced to forfeit all five victories for use of an ineligible player, the race for the playoffs took a different turn this week. Jeff Davis benefited from the announcement and now takes the fourth spot in the region trailing Prattville, G.W. Carver and Benjamin Russell as the playoff teams.

The River Region is still abuzz over the huge upset pulled by the Opelika Bulldogs last week at Prattville.
The Lions lost, 16-14, on a last-second field goal. Now, the move back into region play along with the rest of the teams in AHSAA as the second half of region play begins.
