Schools in the Alabama High School Athletic Association have been reclassified for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years, according to an announcement Wednesday by Steve Savarese, Executive Director.

The Alabama Wildlife Federation will hold its eighth annual Youth Fishing Rodeo from 7-11 a.m. Aug. 7 at Lanark in Millbrook… The Bassmaster Elite Series Trophy Triumph Fishing Tournament will host a Trailblazer Adventure Day on Saturday at Riverwalk Stadium.

A new all-star baseball game is in the works for member schools of the Alabama Independent School Association, so say the members of the AISA.
The game would pit the top senior baseball players from the AISA against the top players from the Georgia Independent School Association, which is the Peach State’s equivalent to the AISA.

ELMORE - Edgewood Academy senior Jacob Benton died in a two-car accident on Alabama Hwy 167 Monday, near the Spring Hill community in Pike County. He was 18.
Registration for the Wetumpka Indians Youth Football and Cheer League is set for March 3 from 4- 6 p.m. and April 10 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Lonnie Smith, a 6-foot-5 senior guard who helped the Ramsay Rams win the 2010 Class 4A state boys basketball championship, has been added to the Alabama roster for the 20th annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic scheduled March 19 at the Pelham Civic Complex. He replaces K.T. Harrell of Brewbaker Tech.

The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced its 2009 River Region award winners.
Mike Smith from Tallassee High School has been named the Public School Player of the Year. Jordan Creel from Alabama Christian Academy and Jack Poundstone from Trinity Presbyterian School have been named co-winners of the Private School Player of the Year award.
Levi Brown from Troy University has been named College Player of the Year and Carver head coach Al Pogue has been named the winner of the Dr. Jim Maloy Coach of the Year award.

Auburn University head football coach Gene Chizik will be featured speaker at the Montgomery Quarterback Club Annual Awards Banquet on Feb. 9. In addition to hearing from Coach Chizik, the Club will recognize its Public School and Private School Players of the Year and its College Player of the Year…. Troy loses at La.-LaFayette… Alabama State wins.

Faulkner welcomes three other nationally prominant NAIA basketball programs to Tine Davis Gymnasium this weekend for the annual Jimmy Faulkner Classic… The Montgomery Quarterback Club has announced its Players of the Week for games of Nov. 5-7… The Troy men’s basketball coaching staff used its success during the 2008-09 season to lock-up a pair of future Trojans, signing guards Travis Nichols and DeAndrae Ross on Thursday as announced by head coach Don Maestri… Cassie Moore scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds in leading Auburn University at Montgomery to a 62-49 win at Spring Hill College.

Dan Reeves has been a part of some of the most glorious professional football teams in history.
He played for Tom Landry and the Dallas Cowboys for eight years. He later coached the Denver Broncos and the Atlanta Falcons to conference titles, giving him a record nine Super Bowl appearances. He won two rings, first as a player then an assistant with the Cowboys.
