But it’s been a while since there’s been one like this.

But a few have key regional contests while others are heading into the two biggest weeks of the season.

Uziah McDaniels rushed for 198 yards and two touchdowns to lead Park Crossing to a 39-14 victory over G.W. Carver in a Class 6A, Region 2 clash at Cramton Bowl on Friday… The Wetumpka Indians stayed perfect on the season with a convincing region victory on the road at Pelham on Friday… The Mustangs did not disappoint their Homecoming fans with a 21-13 victory over visiting Russell County.

Keefe White had 172 yards rushing and 92 more on a pair of kickoff returns to help Montgomery Academy avenge last year’s loss at Trinity…. The Sidney Lanier Poets broke open a 13-13 halftime tie scoring 21 unanswered points on the way to a 34-20 win over Jeff Davis in an intra-city battle at Cramton Bowl on Friday.

We’ve reached the official midpoint of the regular season and the jury is still out on a few teams.
There are no region games scheduled among teams in the River Region but plenty of rivalries are renewed including a couple in the Capital City.

WETUMPKA – Quarterback Jadarious Martin rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Wetumpka Indians to their fifth win of the season over visiting Chilton County on Friday.

Another week in the books and we continue to learn about the teams in the River Region.
Last week produced a few surprises, particularly in Class 4A where Alabama Christian defeated Dale County and Elmore County won its first game of the season.

The first week of region play gave high school football fans plenty of excitement, a few upsets and an idea of what to expect the rest of the season.
Take Montgomery Catholic and St. James, which endured a defensive battle that came down to the last seconds. Catholic found some "Mojo" with a long pass to set up the winning points.

Although it’s not preseason, the first two weeks are warm-ups for region games.

Nearly everybody gets into region play on Friday with several having a chance to impact the races early.

If you read into the scores from the first week of the high school season, you might come up with the following thoughts.
Alabama Christian, Montgomery Catholic, Montgomery Academy and Park Crossing all have great offenses.
Trinity Presbyterian will be better than last year.
