Despite being a team full of seniors, Prattville head football coach Jamey DuBose saw something lacking in the midway point of the 2011 season.
Maturity.
It was evident during a surprising loss in the fifth game of the season at home against Opelika.

As has been the case throughout the playoffs, the combination of quarterbacks Justin Thomas as Jalen Whitlow was too much for Central-Phenix City in the Lions’ 45-12 victory in the Class 6A semifinals at Stanley-Jensen Stadium on Friday.

Only one team in the River Region has survived. No surprise that it’s the Prattville Lions, who have been impressive in the post season.

Butler enjoyed a 13-win week to pass RRS’s Graham Dunn. His lead is one game as the regular season winds down. Stu McCann holds on to third place.

As of Wednesday, the landscape of the Alabama High School Athletic Association has changed.
On Wednesday, the AHSAA officially released its new classifications for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 calendar years. The news created a stir for many of the schools in the River Region.
Several schools moved into new classifications while others have new regional and area rivals.
