OPELIKA - Stanhope Elmore dominated the Mike Spain Invitational relay events on Saturday as both the boys and girls varsity teams took first place in the 4×100 and 4×400 relay and second and third finishes as well.

GREENSBORO, N.C. —- The Huntingdon men’s golf team finished the first day in fourth place in a field of 18 at the Greensboro Gordin Classic. The Hawks shot a first-round 296 on Sunday, and trail the leader Methodist by only six strokes… The Huntingdon women’s golf team finished with the best team round of the schools program, shooting a ninth place 333 on day one of the BSC Southern Shootout at Highland Park Golf Course.

SEWANEE, Tenn. — The Huntingdon women’s tennis team enjoyed perhaps its best-ever showing at the USTA/ITA South Region Championships this weekend, winning 16 total in singles and doubles matches between the eight participants that represented the Lady Hawks… The Huntingdon men’s and women’s cross country team each competed in its third meet of the season, the Rhodes Invitational hosted by Rhodes College, on Saturday.

Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy has been selected as a semifinalist for the 2010 William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes the best and brightest from the college gridiron, as announced by The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame on Thursday… The Auburn University Athletics Department is searching for fans who have attended games in all three former Auburn basketball facilities… Alabama State University cross country runners Jephtah Kenei and Kesia Derilus have received the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Runners of the Week.

Phillips earns spot on national cross country team

Huntingdon sophomore cross country student-athlete Rachael Phillips has earned one of six available positions on the United States Junior National Racewalk Team, after finishing fifth at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships at historic Drake Stadium.

Huntingdon sophomore cross country runner Rachael Phillips has qualified for the 10 kilometer Racewalk event at the United States Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at the home of the Drake Relays, historic Drake Stadium, from June 23-27.

Win Woodson, a seventh grader at Saint James School, is Alabama’s new state champion in javelin, throwing 110 feet, 6 inches at the Class 4A AHSAA state track and field championships in Gulf Shores earlier this month.
