Trace Bright admits he was a little surprised over the summer of 2017 when he was told his fastball was topping out at 92 miles per hour.

“Last summer, I just made a big jump in pitching,” he said. “I’ve been steadily working on mechanics and working out, but it was just a big natural jump.”

That jump made him one of the better juniors in the state, which earned him selection to the annual Alabama All-Stars Sports Week baseball squad that will play at Riverwalk Stadium on Tuesday, July 17.

After the St. James infield turned a double play to end a Satsuma threat in the top of the first inning, the offense followed with an eight-run eruption in the bottom half of the inning on the way to a 10-0 win in a mercy-rule shortened game at Trojans Field on Saturday.
